2011 Holiday Greeting card for Benner Stagne Associate Architects of Lake Oswego, Oregon.
BSAA’s only request for the e-card was to keep it simple and have it finished in a matter of a few hours. With this in mind, I quickly drew from my inspiration of the season and the simplicity of snow falling. Through the effectiveness of the illuminated snow and script font, I feel their sincerity of their holiday greeting was received.

Ockley Green Arts & Technology School, Fall 2011 Drama Troupe poster and program for performance of EduKation. EduKation was written by the drama teacher for the students of Ockley Green to perform. This specialized play explores the troubling reasons why some children become bullies and how they can over come their challenges to be a better person and respect themselves and others.

Commissioned portrait, “20 Years of Marriage”

Posted is the final piece, close up image. And a working image of the beginnings of the piece. I find it interesting to see how the paintings come together and the only way to remember or study the process is to record my process as I am doing it.

MS PowerPoint program for Dull Olson Weekes’ Day of Working All Together. Within DOWA’s lobby is a large projection of a running program highlighting current projects or recently awarded or rewarded projects. The programs served as motion-graphic messages to inform those walking-into the office or just outside the office on street level, of what DOWA is committed to as architects. This particular program was to carry the commitment to community service that was apart of the firm culture. Seen here are 5 slides, unfortunately without the motion-graphics enabled.

The Team Spirit wall for a new local high school. The design task was to create a space to inspire athletes as they ran out of the locker room and into the gym. My vision when I was given this task was the Notre Dame Fighting Irishman on the door jamb as you exit the dress room, all the football players hit it as they run to the field. I had to apply this idea to a greater scale as I was given a wall, not just a door jamb to design.

The solution was met with a central hall between both girls and boys locker rooms and the gymnasium. They pass it on the way in and out, passing true words of team spirit, team work, and team effort. The high school mascot logo is centralized, broadcasting the words of encouragement.

When finished the mascot logo will be life size, and painted in school colors on brick. The font chosen for teamwork and sportsmanship is used through  out the way finding signage of the new high school, uniting this space with the whole school.

Pictured here: sketches in Illustrator and final design.

"Eat Well, Move Well, Think Well, Be Well" inspiring words to motivate middle school students to choose well for their bodies, mind, and being. This 4-panel super graphic system is hung in the cafeteria above the servery, where students will read the message daily as they wait in line to make choices for their lunch.

The design was originally inspired by the luminosity of back-lit 3-Form resin panels. The words were chosen through community collaboration with teachers and the architectural team. The outcome of the panels were successful in emphasizing the active wellness words and supporting them with onomatopoeic words expressing the enjoyment of food.

Tri-fold brochure for a recently completed high school remodel open house. The goal was to highlight the sustainable elements designed in the remodel and to give attendees a map to find the elements and see how they accentuate the school overall.

Brochure layout for use during trade shows or networking conferences. The full brochure is 6 pages 11x17 center fold, printed front and back. The post is only showing 2 layouts, or 4 pages.

Printed media for DOWA office move in 2008. The solution was a full color front with black and white back using the new colors of their new website rolled out in 2008.

Also in this post is the e-card communication piece sent to clients and project team firms as well as the follow up open house invite, also sent electronically.

Career day for elementary students can be exhilaration! I created three posters for a DOWA Principal who was meeting with a gymnasium full of bright eyed fifth graders from a local school district. The goal was to produce a bold collage of the current work DOWA was designing for their district. The students could then relate to the imagery, learn from the quick-bold content, and engage with the Prinicpal to learn about architecture, space, and design.

2010-11 banner for Dull Olson Weekes Architects use for trade show booths. The greater idea is to inspire connectivity. At the booth there will be tablet technology running a portfolio of work from DOWA and a laptop with their engaging website. The banner design was inspired by DOWA’s website and social  media, allowing the third dimension to be tapped when chatting with Principals, viewing a portfolio or reading the latest Spot-Light news on their website.
